Senior Environmental Technician

Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Technician to perform Operations & Maintenance (O&M) on water/wastewater treatment system related to soil and groundwater remediation sites. Also performs field duties for sampling of soil, surface water, stormwater and groundwater at various locations for public and private clients.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to make good observations and record them carefully
Performs more complex collection of field and/or laboratory data
Performs more complex laboratory tests
Writes routine field reports with minimal supervision; contributes to writing complex reports
At the direction of the project manager or senior professional, interacts with clients and subcontractors
Prepares more non-routine and/or complex calibrations of field and/or laboratory equipment, either in field, laboratory or office
Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment
Responsible for meeting assigned task deadlines
Informs immediate supervisor or Project Manager about problems encountered during work assignments
Observes and documents routine construction operations and writes daily reports
Understands, applies and oversees safety requirements in the field
Assists in other non-technical projects as appropriate
Assists and observe contractor work on construction projects and interact with clients and contractor or subcontractor representatives accordingly
May coordinate/direct the work of Field Technicians
May assist in training personnel on use of field equipment or collection of field and/or laboratory data
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or combination of technical education, PDH's, licensure, and certification
Minimum of 7 years of industry experience
Expert knowledge and understanding of project scope and focus
Ability to set up, calibrate and maintain all laboratory and test equipment in an effective and safe manner
Responsible to direct others in procedural matters and in execution of the work orders
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
Demonstrated Leadership, ability to interact with Clients, and interpersonal skills
Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire
Must have 40 hour HAZWOPER Training and 8-hour refreshers up to date
Physical Job Requirements
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to drive large pick-up truck; ability to drive a trailer helpful
Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required

Field tools and equipment
Pickup truck and/or other motor vehicle(s); some locations require individual to have their own vehicle
On occasion, office equipment such as photocopy machine and fax machine
Personal computer and desk top software (e.g., MSOffice)
Work Environment
May require work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, explosives and environment contamination
Overtime and overnight stays may be required
Some fieldwork may require working with hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions
Travel
May spend most or all of time in the field, including sites remote from the office, as part of on-site team

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
