Local Unit & Position Description DNV GL's Distributed Energy Resources team is seeking a Senior Consultant to be focused on emerging technologies and analytic methods as well as techno-economic analysis of distributed energy resources (DER). This position will include responsibility for project leadership and support, and business development. This position will be key in growing DNV GL's practice around distributed energy resources, energy storage technologies, microgrids and the distribution system of the future including both bulk system and distribution system analytics and modeling of DER services and value. Broad knowledge of the electric industry is required including recent trends and history, awareness of regulatory proceedings and policies at both the state and national level. The Senior consultant will ideally be based in our Chalfont, PA office. However, other office locations can be considered as well.
Tasks May Include
Independently manage research and analysis projects ranging from quantitative fast-paced assessments of new DER assets to large-scale research and policy studies
Manage development of new and innovative analytical tools and approaches that support ongoing project work and new business
Thought leadership through development of white papers, webinars and industry speaking engagements.
Project Management and related tasks including monitoring budget, deliverables and client relationships for consulting projects
Provide mentorship in market and policy analysis, quantitative analysis, market modeling.
Participate in new business development through proposal writing and direct sales
Provide input on strategic planning and marketing decisions
Lead a team to deliver high-quality deliverables on time and on budget
Position Qualifications
Required
MS degree in Engineering, Energy, Economics or related field (Undergraduate degree with acceptable level of experience will be considered)
5 years of relevant experience (depending upon graduate degree), including strong Project Management and business development experience
Strong ability to provide clear and concise business writing materials in formats that include PowerPoint slides, business plans, white papers, and other material for mid-level and executive client delivery
Strong oral and written English communication and presentation skills, with an ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior executives
Willingness to travel on a regular basis within North America and, on occasion, internationally
Leading a team of diverse resources and a successful track record in solving complex technical and management issues
Experience in providing services in the electric industry, particularly with respect to wholesale energy markets, strategic planning and/or regulatory services
Familiarity with MatLab and/or power flow software and results associated with those tools
Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (2016)

Experience in developing and delivering publications in trade journals, presentations at conferences, or in articulating points of view
Experience in MATLAB or similar tools to support development and improvement of modeling algorithms
Experience in modeling North American power markets using production cost modeling tools such as PROMOD, PLEXOS, UPPLAN, Aurora, preferably with nodal market representation
Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and modeling
Knowledge of the regulatory sector in areas such as rate design, procurement and carbon policy
Knowledge of national and international energy policy trends
Proven Health, Safety and Quality mindset
Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% within North America
This is a U.S.-based position; candidates must be fully authorized to work in the U.S.
