Temporary, Part-Time UMOJA-UBAKA Counselor

The Umoja-Ubaka program is designed to enrich and nurture the educational experience of all students, especially African American, first generation, and/or underrepresented students. The Umoja-Ubaka Counselor provides intrusive counseling for students in the program in one-on-one and groups settings, and facilitates workshops. Additionally, the Counselor works closely with the Umoja-Ubaka Coordinator in program leadership including, co coordinating outreach and recruitment efforts and mentoring programs, participating in Umoja-Ubaka program activities and leadership meetings, as well as in the planning/evaluation/reporting processes for the Umoja-Ubaka Program. The UmojaUbaka Counselor is expected to engage in professional development that focuses on African American culture and history.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Wellness and Student Development, the Umoja-Ubaka Counselor provides counseling for the Umoja-Ubaka Program, including the African American Learning Community and African Village at Laney College

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
