IAC Search & Media has a Software Engineer (Systems) 2 opening in Oakland, CA.
Maintain existing products by fixing issues, extending systems and monitoring. Contribute to the design and architecture of innovative solutions to difficult problems. Research and create new systems and techniques in the domain of data mining/machine learning, text analysis, and information retrieval. Develop applications to process large amounts of data using Big Data technologies, such as Hadoop/Map-Reduce. Develop APIs for use by the web development team for various websites. Provide support to other teams within the business in order to facilitate integration with internal and external partners. Work with Data Quality Team, providing troubleshooting and tools support.
Requirements: Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field.
May be required to travel to unanticipated sites throughout US.
Education and/or experience must include:
1. Building new systems in multiple programming languages on different platforms (Java/ Perl / Bash / Unix )
2. Experience with entire Software Development cycle (Design / Development / Documentation / Testing / Release)
3. Parallel Programming (Hadoop / Map-Reduce / Pig / Hive)
4. Database Design & Development (SQL / JDBC)
5. UML, HTML
6. Algorithms and data structures and computer science fundamentals
7. Big Data Techniques (Machine Learning / Information retrieval / Information Extraction / Parallel Processing)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
