Daily
Responsibilities:
Answering incoming calls from members/advocate requesting to file an expedited grievance and appeal
Managing incoming documents received by mail/fax
Routing cases and documents appropriately and timely
Assisting preparing cases for investigation and audits
Education:
Bachelor's degree OR one (1) year of experience in an HMO setting or 4 years in a customer service setting.
Required Experience and skills:
Minimum number of years of experience required: one (1) year of experience in an HMO setting or 4 years in a customer service setting.
Strong customer service skills
Multi-tasking
Conflict resolution
Desired Skills:
Experience in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of grievance and appeals process
Soft Skills:
Time management skills - due to a stringent time frames and if not met the Plan is heavily fined by our regulators
Claiming presence - ability to keep cool and professional when under pressure, including ability to influence others when things get hectic: many of our members are terminally ill - it's our case coordinators job to try to be the rock for the member who thinks the world is failing down due to their recent condition/diagnosis
Active listening skills - need to be able to listen to our member's problem then accurately assess the issue and find the best possible solution

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
