Summary:
The Hopalong Animal Care Coordinator is responsible for the handling, housing and daily care of the animals at Hopalong, a program of Marin Humane.
They are accountable for accomplishing department goals, working collaboratively with internal and external Marin Humane stakeholders and supporting the mission, goals and philosophy of Marin Humane.

Position open until filled ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ANIMAL CARE Assure that all animals are handled properly, humanely, and with compassion Identify, vaccinate, weigh, and prepare appropriate housing for all incoming animals Clean and disinfect all animal areas per protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment Feed and medicate animals as needed and provide daily exercise and behavioral enrichment Thoroughly document intake data, medical notes and behavioral observations in Shelter Buddy Vaccinate kitten/dogs as scheduled by program managers Perform medical intake on all animals:
microchip, vaccinate, de-worm, apply flea/tick Process animal surrenders, intake Provide ring worm treatment and care when needed PROGRAM SUPPORT Foster support:
assist fosters picking up kittens/cats/dogs/puppies; prepare animal supplies for foster pick Oversee Adoption meet and greets Prepare/Load vehicle(s) for adoption events; unload vehicles after adoption event Track and sort adoption paperwork prior to and after events Oversee animal transport between Marin Humane, Woodlands Pet Food and Hopalong Accompany Program Managers during shelter runs when needed CUSTOMER SERVICE Understand, support, and articulate Marin Humane's policies and philosophies in a positive and effective manner Provide courteous and prompt service to fellow employees, volunteers, and the public Train department volunteers when needed Foster teamwork, creativity and a work culture aligned with Marin Humane's mission and values Meet and greet adopters and foster drop offs when needed Check main phone for messages; advise staff as needed SAFETY AND SECURITY Be proficient at reading animal body language and act appropriately towards fearful or aggressive animals Committed to a high standard of safety and comply with all safety laws and employer's safety policies and rules Report safety violations as well as potential safety hazards to appropriate supervisory personnel Maintain appropriate files and records and adhere to the files and records retention policies and procedures OTHER DUTIES Unload, store and restock Animal Care department supplies Unload, sort, store donations Wash and sort laundry, dishes, litter pans, and donated items Perform light maintenance and other janitorial duties Order janitorial/medical/office supplies Participate in mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and organizational committees Gas vehicles (3); schedule maintenance as needed REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
