Summary:
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) performs all the administrative services relating to the checking in and checking out of patients and provides general support services for the unit as described herein.
Thus, the PSR plays a key role in creating and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients; ensuring efficient and expedient patient flow, and implementing providers' follow-up instructions with the patients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Greets and registers patients.
Follows up and carries out insurance verification and policy requirements, updates system information, verifies the financial status of patients and provides fee information.
Answers incoming phone calls.
Responsible for responding to patient telephone calls for changing appointments and rescheduling patient appointments when a provider is out.
Collects and posts payments as needed.
Provides general information (e.
g.
, client limits of insurance and payment responsibilities of the client for services) and assistance to all visitors in the waiting room.
Schedules appointments as needed; maintains the appointment reminder notification system for patients needing to be scheduled for follow-up appointments.
Rotates through various components (e.
g.
PEDS, Radiology/Allied Health, adults, lobby, and ARC).
Process referrals for patients, explain procedures, and inputs the referral into the electronic health records system.
Follow through with no-show patients per protocol.
Provides patient information to the nursing staff for medication refills.
Participates in orientation and training of new staff.
Reviews inbox daily and respond to tasks and PTAs in the electronic health records system.
Provides backup for other support services functions as needed.
Other duties that the supervisor might require.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required and two years' work-related experience in a clinic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian language preferred.
Commitment to working in the Asian community, to community health care with familiarity with community health clinics preferred.
