Job Overview:
The Grants Manager works to leverage public and private funding opportunities through proposal writing, grants tracking and reporting, and sub award management. The Grants Manager is primarily responsible for conducting the full range of pre- and post-award activities required to prepare, submit, and comply with grant proposals to public agencies, corporations, and private foundations across the IRC in Northern California's (IRC NorCal) four offices in Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento and Turlock/Modesto. Work is performed in collaboration with IRC NorCal's leadership, development, finance, and program staff, as well as headquarters' revenue, grants and business development staff. Major
Responsibilities:
Proposal Development (Pre-Award) Develop and manage the Northern California region's proposal calendar to ensure timely submissions of proposals to new prospects, in addition to existing renewal proposals. Manage the proposal development and submission process by working with IRC Nor Cal Executive Director and IRC Nor Cal Development Director, Site Directors, local program staff and headquarters staff to ensure on-time submission of high quality proposals. Write key proposal sections, editing and incorporating the input of other team members. Liaise with the headquarters' revenue, grants and business development staff on all new contracts, grants, amendments, and sub-grants. Grants Management (Post-Award) Develop and ensure the effective maintenance of contract and grant files for each funded program with consistent documentation standards. Work closely with site leads and program staff to prepare interim and final reports to grantors. Coordinate grant opening and closing meetings for every funded opportunity across NorCal. In collaboration with the Director of Finance, prepare budgets for funders and liaise with funders related to fiscal and contractual questions. Maintain grants management tracking and donor tracking system and regularly update the Northern California leadership team with accurate data. Maintain digital records of proposals. Be the local subject expert for IRC's Business Development Standards Be the local subject expert for IRC's grant management tools such as PEERS and OTIS Strategy and Prospect Development In collaboration with IRC Nor Cal Development Director, work with Site Directors and Program leads to develop a funding strategy and timeline, and perform prospective research on potential public and private funders. Support the preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets and reports to local foundations and other potential donors to solicit unrestricted funds in collaboration with the Executive Director, the Development Director, and the Director of Finance. Update IRC NorCal executive management on a regular basis regarding anticipated awards and any changes in funding streams. Supervision and Staff Development Provide direct supervision, training, and oversight to two Grants Coordinators who also support the IRC NorCal region. Provide supplemental internal trainings to IRC NorCal program staff to build local capacity for grant writing and grants management. Other related duties as assigned. Key Working Relationships:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in journalism, English, or a related field. Certification or continuing education in grant writing, proposal development and/or fundraising a strong plus. Work
Experience:
Three
years of professional experience in grant-writing Three
years of experience in a supervisory role Project management experience/certification a plus. Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills. Familiarity with grants process of government funding agency(ies) (federal, state, or county level) Familiarity with the Northern California non-profit/philanthropy environment a plus Familiarity and comfort working with budgets and finance departments Ability to work autonomously in their scheduling and prioritizing within tight deadlines and focused on the work product. Self-directed but with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications:
Word, Excel, Outlook Training and experience in IRC systems of PEERS and OTIS a plus Language Skills:
Fluency in written and spoken English Working Environment:
Standard office work environment with the option of hybrid in-person/remote work schedule Travel to NorCal sites and external stakeholder meetings occasional (approximately 10% of time)
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
